Club Noticeboard

Saturday 20th March is Opening Day for season 2010. Why not come along and join the Social Evening starting at 7.30pm. The dress code is smart/casual and the music is provided by Freeway. A new service for members is now available with the launch of our new competitions software application. The new package from Handicapmaster offers features previously not available to the membership. These include viewing of your recent handicap record, printing out your own handicap certificate, and internet viewing of knock-out competition draws. One of the main features is the on-line booking of competition tee times and the summary and analysis of medal results. These services can be accessed through the Members pages on the club website. Instructions on how to register for the on-line service are shown on the Home page. The new application is also a hit with the C&H team, reducing the ammount of time needed to organise and run the many competitions at the club. The minutes of the 111th Annual General meeting held in the Clubhouse on Friday 4th December 2009 are now available on the Members site.

A list of nominations received for election to the Council of Management and Captain’s Committee are available on the member’s site. CV’s of the candidates for Chairman are also posted.

You can now use your laptop or smartphone in the main lounge in our wifi zone. The facility is available during normal club hours and  members can now log onto the internet and connect to on-line services. Why not enjoy a coffee or snack in the lounge while you book your next golf  trip or check your email. Your laptop or phone only needs to be set to discover new networks automatically and you are ready to go. Please contact the Secretary if you need further details.

Come along and join the fun at the Games Night. Activities will include Dominoes, Cards, Darts, Pool and your favourite – Carpet Bowls. You are welcome to bring along your own games. The large screen TV will show Champions League and Europa League football when available. The Games Nights will run every Tuesday until the clocks change at the end of March and resume again in the Autumn. Everyone is welcome.

The R&A has decided that the use of GPS devices on the course is allowed only if the Club decides to create a local rule to that effect.

Cathcart Castle Golf Club has decided, in line with other Brand Putter League Clubs, to create such a local rule, and so the use of GPS devices in competition is now allowed.

It should be noted that only devices measuring distance alone will be permitted.
